November Food Donation Drive

ree

More than 440,000 Minnesotans did not receive their full SNAP benefits this month, deepening an already growing need for food access in our communities. While we’re fortunate to have a strong network of hunger relief organizations working tirelessly across the state to take care of our community members, their need for support is greater now than ever.

At the market, we’ve seen firsthand how vital SNAP dollars are — both to families who rely on them and to the vendors whose livelihoods depend on their support.

This month, we invite you to join us in supporting our neighbors and local farmers through a give-what-you-can food donation drive at the Minneapolis Farmers Market.

Buy an extra bag of produce from a local farmer or drop off nonperishable goods at the market office between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday through November 23. We’ll get these donations directly in the hands of partner organizations, including our neighbors over at the Groveland Food Shelf, who are doing the work to get it in the hands of those who need it.

While monetary donations often stretch further for food banks, there are certain highly requested items they need help sourcing: ramen packets, tinned chicken or tuna, cooking oil, baking supplies and breakfast cereals, among other things.

Now is the time to lean into community, and we’re honored to do so alongside you all.
